Blackened Cajun Blackfin Tuna

INGREDIENTS:

  • Blackfin Tuna

    • You can substitute meaty fish

i.e. yellowfin, mahi mahi, swordfish, Rainbow trout)

  • Cajun Seasoning Mix

    • 1 tbsp paprika

    • ½ tbsp cayenne pepper (add more for heat)

    • 1 tbsp garlic powder

    • 1 tbsp cumin

    • ½ tbsp mustard powder

    • 1 tbsp Mexican Seasoning (Tajin Brand)

  • Olive Oil for searing

  • Salt and pepper

  • *Optional Sauce (per serving)

    • 1 ½  tbsp Mayonnaise can substitute Greek Yogurt

    • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

    • ½-1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice

    • ½ tbsp capers

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Make Seasoning Mix in Advance

  2. Rinse fish w/ fresh water

  3. Use a paper towel to pat fish dry

  4. Do a ‘dusting’ of salt and pepper all around the fish filet

  5. Coat Large sized frying pan with olive oil

  6. Heat Burner to a medium high heat

  7. Coat the fish generously on all sides w/ the Cajun Seasoning Mix

  8. As the oil begins to smoke turn down the heat to medium

  9. Place Fish Filets in pan, sear for 3-4 minutes each side, or to preferred doneness

  10. *Dizzle/dip optional sauce
