Ordered Mornings
Book excerpt from The Power of Doing What Matters
Much has been said about instilling order in our lives. We crave it, love it, and, somehow, we often forget to put it on our “important” and “control” lists.
The start of your day is one of the best times to control your order of doing what matters.
Commit to three, five, or sixty minutes that will become your ritual. I get up at 5:30 a.m., feed our dogs, make my espresso, go to my red chair, pray, read daily spiritual reading, read from a current book, and complete my neuromusculoskeletal (NMS) hygiene.
Saint Augustine of Hippo said, “The definition of peace is the tranquility of order.” Peace and its tranquility of order are
at the intersection of the 6 Ps. It is suggested that a ritual is worthy if it is meaningful.
Commit to your ritual. “This is what I do.”
